Who Are We?
Originating from Nelson, New Zealand, Sebastian Johnson first arrived in Canada when he was 14, attending the well-known Summer Gravity Camp run by Andrew Shandro in Whistler, British Columbia. After two weeks of incredible riding, Seb left awe struck and dreaming to return to Canada one day and work as a mountain bike instructor. After saving up every dollar he made working late nights as a chef and stacking produce at the grocers, Seb returned to B.C where he completed the Mountain Bike Operations program at Capilano University on the Sunshine Coast and became the youngest Mountain Bike Instructor for Whistler Backcomb at the time.
Since his first year working as an instructor in 2011, Seb has been continually expanding his knowledge by teaching thousands of clients year after year in the Bike Park as well as running a backcountry mountain bike program in the Yukon. But that wasn’t enough for him. Unlike the locals and tourists who spend time in Whistler, Seb knows how little access there is to quality instruction in the mountain bike world. With a goal to bring professional advice to riders in communities across the globe, Trail Tips was created.
